Richard B. Cheney a prominent public servant and a businessman is vice-president of the United States. Cheney was well-known on Washington's political stage. George W. Bush will be the 4th U.S. President. Bush named Cheney his vice-presidential runningmate in 2000, due to his intelligence and judgment. Dick Cheney was a chief of Staff to Presidents, worked for the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served his country in many capacities. Republicans and Democrats alike admire Cheney due to his honesty. Cheney has said that the position he will play in the administration as that of an open and honest advisor to Bush. Cheney is adamant in accepting his appointment as Republican vice president he wants to be a president candidate who will work cross-partisan and to collaborate in a manner of respect and in a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941, the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He moved into Casper, Wyoming with his family at the age of 13. He was raised by his father who was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, directed the soil conservation district of Casper.
